Like Dole before him, when he's off the cuff and not "campaigning," he actually comes across as a human and not a robot. I watched the documentary "Mitt" on Netflix, I recommend checking it out to see a glimpse of what it's like on a family for your dad to run for president. It was interesting.

I wish I had voted for him. I regret my vote for Obama.

Surprised to read this. It's a long way from saying "Obama was a disappointing president," which is common, to "I wish I had voted for Romney," which is somewhat unusual.

In any case voting is a con game.

This requires further explanation. A lot. I'm confused.

I actually think Romney is more liberal than he was allowed to show himself to be. His record in MA seems to indicate as such. Also, for the most part I think that people knew what they were getting with Romney. With Obama it seems to be a constant bait and switch. He campaigned on having the most open, accessible presidency in history, to close down guantanamo, end the wars, reign in spending, with his "scalpel" and not "machete" approach. All bullshit. He's a bullshitter.

Also, much of what Romney was chided for by Obama has come to fruition. -Syria, Russia. Please forgive the horrible title of this video:

A leader needs to command and I don't find Obama in any way a commanding presence. I am certainly becoming more fiscally conservative in my old age and I think Romney is more socially liberal than he was able to let on.

If I could sit and have a beer (iced-tea in Romney's case) with either of them, I might consider Romney the more interesting of the two. Honestly.

not even iced-tea… it's a thing.

Decaffeinated iced tea?

steve  ·  3715 days ago  ·  link  ·

it's not about the caffeine...

That Russia part is funny.

I think this is a pretty good argument for why he shouldn't lead the country. Seems like he goes with the wind.

Not to say that Obama doesn't play his own game. But at least he isn't ostensibly aligned with the madness in the House of Reps.

Wow man, you've really gone on a long journey.

If I had to pick one or the other it'd be Mitt but I voted for neither and I doubt that would change for Mitt and Hill.

I'm impressed that you are willing to say you would support Romney if you could do it over. You seemed to have the fervor of a true beliver at one time, the adore had certainly paled the 2nd time around but to come full circle certainly shows you are willing to examine your tightly held beliefs.

-Well, to be fair I said that I wish I had voted for him. The word "support" implies that I would have campaigned for, donated to or otherwise done more than casting my ballot in his direction.

You're right though, in 2008 I had drank the Koolaid. In fact, that's right around the time I started becoming pals with mk and initially we were both fans of Jon Edwards because of what seemed an earnest desire to help the impoverished and to close the income gap. But, his campaign didn't bear fruit, though it turns out his videographer did. Anyways, once he was out, I began to buy in to the whole "change" thing and genuinely thought Obama would usher in a new era in politics. I was a fool.

Edit:

Wow man, you've really gone on a long journey.
-I really have. It's been a formative 6+ years for me.

Yo! Did you take down your Obama song?

This post took me back to the Hubski old days and it looks that gem is gone.

thenewgreen  ·  3717 days ago  ·  link  ·

Ha, I may not be a fan of his, but I own my history and wouldn't take it down. I'll find it. BRB.

Edit: I believe, this tune penned by a brain-washed me is what you're looking for: https://hubski.com/pub?id=3162

Song won't load, I found the post already, figured you might have took it down.

thenewgreen  ·  3717 days ago  ·  link  ·

Nope, I just listened to it here, on Hubski via that post. Odd.
