Today's genre books are full of future dystopias, which only have one weakness: teenagers.

Let's see... The Hunger Games, Divergent... I don't read enough books if I can't name any more than those two. D:

[edit 09-16 17:28] Oh yeah, Animorphs!

I wouldn't call Animorphs a dystopia though (although I guess I haven't read past book 30, maybe it changed?)

Maybe I've got my concept of "dystopia" down wrong. It's definitely a world where a bunch of humans are captive to alien brainslugs that are bent on taking over that side of the Universe.

After thinking about it for a bit, I think you might be right. The only argument I can think of as to why it's not a dystopia is that the series is about a war. The Yeerks were winning, but they didn't have absolute control yet. Society is in a state of flux instead of mostly stable. I'm not sure if you need a stable society to call it a dystopia, though.

Perhaps it's not so much a dystopia as it is a societal crisis. I mean, even in the Hunger Games, the point of the plot is generally about tumultuous revolution.
