I think out of this entire list, I've heard of maybe four groups? I get the impression that a lot of these are newer/pop/rap/somethingelseIdon'tlistento. Seems like every time I see a post about music here, I've either never heard of, or don't enjoy, the subject. I'm going to see the Black Keys in December, however.
Who have you heard of? There's always common ground. I've seen the Black Keys twice; I just don't bother posting about them because it's a foregone conclusion that 90 percent of hubski has heard of them. If you dig the Black Keys can I suggest Reignwolf?Seems like every time I see a post about music here, I've either never heard of, or don't enjoy, the subject.
AH HA HA nowaypablo someone else on Hubski has listened to Reignwolf! flag did you know pabst and I went and saw reignwolf? Can't remember if you were a part of that discussion. Mainly because I had never heard of Reignwolf
I've heard of Foo Fighters (I've even listened to them!), Lorde (never heard her stuff), PandaBear (only because of RAM). I'm very picky with music, and I tend to listen to things over and over and over again until I've got it memorized, then I move on to whatever I've found next. For instance, on my last.fm, The Black Keys have around 3,000 plays - the nearest after that is Daft Punk with around 1500 (ignore Falco, I used "Rock Me, Amadeus" to test audio equipment at work).
Its similar for me too. I have rarely heard about the bands that are posted here, and most of them don't really fit into the music I have been enjoying lately, but sometime it is refreshing and I find something I like :) From this list I have only heard of Lorde, The new pornographers (somebody posted a Neko Case track with them), SBTRKT, Flying Lotus and Foo Fighters Merchandise, FKA Twigs, TNP, Caribou and Johnny Marr are passing in Cologne, so I might check them out... Any suggestion which on those I should definitely check out? @flagmuffin@
FKA twigs is great, but I can't vouch for them live. I used to be obsessed with "swim"-era Caribou and they were amazing live when I saw them.
