That morning could have been so much worse for me. We had gone on a bit of a bender and a group of us ended up at the notorious party pad a few blocks away from this shooting (amethyst and harkness). I was crashing quickly and I often fall asleep upstairs at that house with one of my closest friends. That night/morning, another friend was taking a cab home and we were mid conversation so I went with him and had the cab drop me off at my place on the way. Apparently the chaos of 103 bullets was nothing compared to 6 drunk, ex coast guard, paranoid cokeheads who had not yet gone to bed. The media coverage of this story was bizarre though. They don't talk about the second shooting much at all except to say that one was in Torrance and one was in Redondo. But they were both literally 0.3 miles away from each other - it just happens the division between cities is that street Beryl. I know the women got a huge settlement. Never figured out exactly what happened at the shooting at Flagler and Beryl though.
Good advice, especially because they are quite likely to lie to you, if they think doing so might help them nail you. There is nothing illegal about a cop lying to you, so you literally cannot trust them, at all, ever. They do not have your interests in mind, ever. Sad but true. Say nothing and let your lawyer talk to them, as much as possible.
Even the "good ones" will look the other way while the "bad ones" do as they will - we all know it's true.
