So I'm reading this and the post on Berlin's Transit System at the same time. They complement each other well.

It is foremost of all the GDR-era S-Bahn maps in that it is not designed to help passengers find routes between stations, but rather to display the system as a beautiful, rainbow-hued unity.

And the Pledge

was born not out of a desire to commemorate our nation, but as a clever ploy to get us to buy a product.

So while the Soviets were busy making maps not designed to be useful, America is teaching kids to Nazi-salute a capitalist mogul's wet dream.

I'm glad the world is in such capable hands.

Maybe we should've shipped Upham to the Eastern Bloc, where he could sell them useful maps.
