He made a joke, it's a crazed-over issue, it relates to the biggest U.S. political news at the moment, and it's appealing enough for average consumers. So yeah, he's giving the media something to talk abut him over. That's his job, and he did it well. Let's say I go streaking down Times Square to raise awareness for testicular cancer. Let's say you stand on the street corner politely and try to hand out flyers. Who do you think is going to get more attention? It's really simple stuff. Of course I'm going to look cheerful, you can bet I'm going to have a smile on my face and look confident when I've got the spotlight on my nuts.
