How long can you play in god mode before hitting reset?
In theory, you'd pass when this material world ceases to exist, and everything starts over again. I don't by any means believe we're the first universe to be, nor the last. However I'd imagine the longer you exist your perception of time would drastically change in some asymptotic manner, and you'd likely begin to see patterns is the things you once considered menial as having some greater relative significance.
We wont know until we get there, to be honest. Maybe it will be a singularity that simulates faster than time can catch up. Maybe it will be in infinite life that can live past anything, even the heat death of the universe, and continue to think, to live, to adapt. Maybe something else entirely. All I know is that you aren't immortal if you die, ever. So the life expectancy (time alive) has to be infinity.
this is actually how i wean myself from games that get too timesucking I hack them and lose interest. The paradox of he heaven if everything is perfect than what is the point?
I've actually done the opposite to make a game more compelling. Take the worst initial character(s) or conditions and see how far I can get. I recall a Tom Clancy themed game where I'd drop the special forces team strategy for one guy and a shotgun. So much more fun.
Exactly playing DF in ice or haunted sites.
But
God mode ruins the game. This bit of human nature screws up even the best intentioned utopia.
No pretty sure heaven is an afternoon at the beach with a moderately hard math problem and a good meal with friends to look forward to.
