Since spending a semester in London and getting a more intense view into electronic music, I have been listening to Feed Me's Calamari Teusday He is my definition of melodic electronic house. Give it a listen and tell me what you think! Another artist that just blew my mind with the way he does think is Pretty Lights who offers his music for free on his website! His shows are pretty light intense and beautiful. If you fancy taking some mind-altering substances, you should give this guy a try! His recent album A Color Map of the Sun was coupled with a visual project. Put this in full screen when you have some friends over. Beautiful videos and music! Enjoy!
listened to some Pretty Lights, i really enjoy it. kinda the same style as Tycho, i've also been enjoying his work lately, his newest album just leaked like, an hour ago or something.
Sure i got, is it safe to share on hubski though? i don't know the official stance on pirating. edit: u know what? f' it Here's the link
It's probably better to do that sort of thing in a private message, but honestly the founders of hubski lean so hard toward general internet freedom that it doesn't really matter. Also there aren't any official stances on anything here really. It's a 'know it when you see it' kinda place for now.
If you like PL, which I love, check out: https://soundcloud.com/griz/sets/rebel-era-1 Griz's music is free as well. Another group that is much more new to the scene "The Geek x Vrv" is a hip hop influenced sample duo much like PL. They're working with the exact same software as Derek Smith to boot. They're out of Paris, I've talked to them personally via Facebook, that is how new they are haha. Only a few thousand followers: https://soundcloud.com/thegeek And if you are into something a little on the heavier electronic side, another new face from the Toulouse region of France that I've come across "CloZee" has a new EP out today ($4 minimum) on top of a lot of free music on her soundcloud. She also is a very nice person, only has a few thousand fans on fb. She really has done some amazing work with the computer imho.
I have been listening to the Avett Brothers recently (their CD the carpenter) and I wanted to share this song with the fathers on Hubski. thenewgreen kleinbl00 and the rest of you. Yes sometimes I drive around listening to music and thinking of you Hubskiers.
I wasn't sure what to think of the Avett Brothers until I saw them on Austin City Limits. -Hell of a duo, great performers. Thanks for sharing this, I enjoyed it. I now live in the area they came up in and hope to see them here soon. ACL:
Schoolboy Q's Oxymoron dropped early, and it was rad. Only heard it once yet though. Kid Cudi surprised us with a new album within hours of Q's leak. Cudi's music represents something to me, mostly being 16 and stoned and happy, so I'll never stop listening to his music no matter how weird or bad it gets. Indicud, for example, was disappointing. I wasn't sure what to think about WZRD. But Satellite Flight is fucking amazing. It's not a rap album, it's a hybrid, and as much as I would love for him to go back to club music and stoner anthems, if he only makes Satellite Flights for the rest of his life we're still blessed. Been spinning it all evening.
lately i've been really into Death Grips, its experimental hip hop that was introduces to me on 4chans music section. really brutal and with a good pair of speakers its very interesting and special to listen to. their first mixtape and latest album can be downloaded for free on their site that i linked.
Due to Jeshk0's post I've been listening to the Seacats. I'm digging their album thus far. Check out "Lately" -The lyrics aren't the most inspiring but I dig the melodies. http://seacats.bandcamp.com/track/lately I was also going through old demos of stuff I've come up with in the past and was reminded of this old one: Might work on it more.... I really dig the fade out ending.
The Men - Another Night. One of the best tracks off their new album Tomorrow's Hits.
Some Aussie Pop: DCUP - Someone Told Me Some French House: Nanuq - One Last Daydream Some Canadian Funk: Mix Chopin - Tight
Someone recommended I listen to The Essex Green, as I told her that I liked some other Elephant 6 bands. As far as music collectives go they have done pretty well for themselves. Although AFAIK it is a rather loose one.
Natan Barato - Two Finger EP Dropped Today. Heard Nicole Moudaber play it live Saturday Night at Output. For those of you with good speakers, this is one to hear.
I spent 12 hours driving this past weekend which meant a lot of time to revisit some old CDs and mixes that I've accumulated over the years... I listened to Everything in Transit and The Glass Passenger by Jack's Mannequin a couple of times. The latter is a good album but I will forever love Everything in Transit. One of those albums I discovered in High School that I can't shake. Outside of that, I listened to am by Ovlov probably 5 or 6 times. Listen to "There's My Dini" since it features Sadie Depuis of Speedy Ortiz which is another great band.
Porya Hatami - Shallow electro-acoustic music from Iran.
System Of A Down has been bouncing around in my head all week. In particular Innvervision off of Steal This Album. I also evidently had a bit of a hip-hop tooth. I went back to J-Live's Audio Visual. Also, after becoming a bit curious from watching a few episodes, I dug in and found Asheru's Judo Flip, the song remixed to become the theme song for Boondocks.
