- Comcast Corp. (CMCSA) agreed to acquire Time Warner (TWC) Cable Inc. for $45.2 billion in stock, a surprise deal that combines the two largest U.S. cable companies and creates a bulwark against competition from phone and satellite providers.
Can somebody explain to me how this doesn't violate anti-trust laws? This merger would result in what I would imagine is a lot of Americans being left with one option for internet service in their area. Please let there be a successful challenge to this, Comcast is awful.

From what I've read Comcast has well placed former employees in the antitrust divisions that would scrutinize this merger. And of course they are planning a lobbying blitz in order to push it through. There is no way in hell this should be allowed.
