I make the audio and then all of these awesome videos were made by steve. Great work and thank you to all of the participants.
Any suggestions for future topics?
thenewgreen, I would like to second happiness. I just got done watching Happy, and it would be interesting to see what people had to say about what makes them happy. Memory would be great too!
I would definitely be interested to hear about what makes people in our community happy too. I wonder if it is too similar to the "fun" podcast that we did though? What do you think?
I just re-listened to the fun podcast, and I think it would be different enough. Maybe waiting for a few more podcasts to pass would be a good idea. But I feel that the idea of happiness is a much more profound idea than that of fun. Happiness isn't necessarily fun, and fun can be much more of a fleeting moment whereas happiness is (usually) prolonged. Especially when asking "what makes you happy?".
It might be nice to do an uplifting, human interest podcast and "what makes you happy" could certainly satisfy that.
I like "memory" it's a topic that could go in many different directions. Childhood, old age/dimentia, revisionist history etc. Good call.
Me too. I always have. I think it's because I live in the world of my head. I remember how things made me "feel" pretty well but I do not have a good memory for details etc. Narcissist much?
HA. That's hilarious. We had breakfast with some friends today and my pal Scott asked me where I got my hairs cut. I told him and he asked, "how much does it cost?" My response was, "I don't know, but I know that it seems reasonable."
Communities and "future" are both fantastic suggestions. I'd love to do a podcast on "the future" and involve community members to discuss what they're excited about and worried about. Of course, we'd have to get our resident futurologist @thadvancedapes@ on board. Elizabeth, would you ever be interested in participating? veen that goes for you too.. you are both welcome to. It's fun and relatively painless. edit: Also, thank you for the compliment. There are other's that haven't been put to video. You can see them all under the #tngpodcast tag. Here's one that was fun: Collecting edit 2: Listening to the Collecting podcast and wow... they've certainly gotten better imo. So many pauses, so slooooowwww and artificially pensive. I'm excited for the next one to come out soon. I think it's perfect timing. The question asked is, "Why should honest people care about NSA Surveillance?"
"Communities" is interesting. I once took a course called "Community Media as a Vehicle for Social Change" - It was fascinating, but we did have to define "community." Along the same lines, "What is a Third Space?" and why do we need it. I like veen's idea "something, something cities" -- I'm actually interested in "neighbourhoods" more than "cities." I'd love a trip around the world in answer to the question "Tell me about your neighbourhood." Memory is interesting. To make it more manageable, you might ask: "What is your earliest memory?" or "What is your earliest memory of a deliberate, self-willed action?" Perhaps a more relevant topic would be "Baby in the House." Anyway, wherever you go, it will be fun. You will have to cross the bridge and head to your cabin in the woods.
That sounded like a metaphor if I didn't knew any better. I like most of the ideas mentioned here, but I'm slightly hesitant to submit, for multiple reasons. I'll be following this as it progresses though. You will have to cross the bridge and head to your cabin in the woods.
Yeah, no way you do a "future" podcast without theadvancedapes As for participating, I'll pass for now. I don't think I have anything constructive to say. I'll message if you do a podcast on something i'd feel confident contributing to or if I change my mind:)
Sounds good. Thanks again for checking them out.
steve, are they all public domain(isn) videos or are some your own footage?
I love your podcasts. I had only seen the writing one before, but I watched the space one, and then had to watch all of the rest. They really are fantastic and I can't wait for more. My suggestions: Identity Life Friends/friendship Drugs/drug culture Emotions
Thank you c_hawkthorne, they area lot of fun to make. steve is fantastic to work with and it's one of the great joys in my life to be able to make these with him and the rest of the participants. I really like the idea of "Friends/Friendship." I usually start the podcast off with a question; for example the next podcast is all around the question "why should an honest person care about NSA surveillance?" For the "friends" podcast I could ask, "when has a friend really come through for you?" -I'll think more on this. "Friendship" is a great idea especially as the definitions of friendship are changing with the advent of online interactions etc. -For example, I've NEVER met steve (a friend and the guy who made all the videos here) in person. -That's just crazy. Thank you!
