Although this was an external device attached to a car, who is to stop them from just tapping your phone's internal GPS. Seems to be outside of the scope of this ruling, but give 'em an inch...

I've been on a couple of ride-alongs (in the front seat) and even the day a bank robber was caught, the vast majority of the day was spent driving in one big circle and filling out paperwork. One of my friends is now a cop and all she does is drive around and fill our paperwork. From what I can tell it's about 45 minutes of excitement and 9 hours and 15 minutes of sheer boredom. Oh yeah, they work ten hour days here in SD.

So, do they work 4 ten hour shifts? Or are they working 50 hour+ weeks?
"David D. Noce is a federal magistrate judge on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri. He was appointed to this position in 1976."
http://judgepedia.org/index.php/David_Noce This isn't even a federal ruling. This is a local ruling. The ACLU didn't even show up. The really interesting stuff pops up when the supreme court rules on it.

Yeah, this will be a good one. Its one of those issues that will make a conservative Justice's head explode when they try to balance keeping the government at bay with letting corporations have their way. I don't know what happened, but I assume that wireless manufacturers probably filed briefs siding with the gov't, essentially hedging their bets against lawsuits after the FBI secretly subpoenas users' whereabouts.
