I'm here right now because I want to be among friends. I know it's an illusion, but friends are people you want to hang out with, right? You feel kind of safe with your friends. Your friends might actually "listen" to what you write and then tell you what they think. When they disagree, they usually give you a good reason. My hubski friends are brilliant. They share interesting stuff with me that I wouldn't otherwise know anything about. They make me smarter. They are not robots, as far as I know. Sometimes they send me postcards from their trip. Sometimes they send me songs. Sometimes I send them my thoughts. That's about it. I hang with my friends at the bar.But I would love to know why you choose to spend some of your online time here.
Why am I here?
Yup, I should add this thought to Anthem -- it takes a while to feel part of the community, for people to get to know you, to run across you in discussions, to appreciate your contributions. I've noticed people like nowaypablo and BLOB_CASTLE (where are you, Blob?) and others sometimes get noticed quickly because their focus is on what can I bring to this community as much as what can I get out of this community. Everyone has a contribution to make. It sometimes takes a while to find out what that is. We're here mostly for the long run, and we're patient. A bunch of people joined 95 days ago. elizabeth and eightbitsamurai and others started contributing right away, but PeterC seems to have just started with a single poem and created a minor hubski sensation.
I think hubski makes a neat sandbox for people who want to take action on something they're interested in. Be that partaking in and starting discussions, sharing your art and creations, and sharing others' too. The fact that there's a place for you to do what you want is the reason Hubski is appealing to me. And yeah Blob what the hell, how am I supposed to stick around if you all are leaving too >.<
