Here is the most recent version of our collaborative song. Some history:
1. I recorded some rhythm guitar tracks
2. T-Dog recorded bass
3. mrjasonetaylor recorded some mellotron, delayed Wurli, piano
4. fuffle recorded some awesomeness, organ and that cool synth bit at the end
5. jonaswildman recorded drums
6. I recorded some vocals -feedback? I'm not entirely sold on these vox....
That's where we are at right now. I'm hoping that someone might be interested in recording background vocals and perhaps some sort of instrumentation in the middle to give it some semblance of a "solo" or a "moment".
Who is up next? T-Dog? fuffle? mrjasonetaylor?
bgood79 is getting his hard-drive fixed and ecib may jump in too.
Just to clarify (not that it matters) but I added Mellotron, A delayed Wurli (currently sits to the right and not overly loud) and then towards the end of the song, I added some slight piano. :)
We record our bit, upload it to soundcloud and then let the next person download the mp3 and overdub on top of it. -Literally just about the most lo-fi way you could possibly record. -Still, it sounds remarkably good given what we are doing. Thanks for listening.
You're a big part of it man. Do you hear a part for some background vocals? Take your time with it, no rush. I think it could help give the song more dimension. What do you think?
You know I love ya B_C, but I sorta put forth the plan here: http://hubski.com/pub?id=116394 that I would stick to the current lineup. Mostly because there are so many talented people on Hubski that I know there would be a number of people potentially interested. But who knows. You and some others should start another one. That'd be awesome.
We already have a bassist and more than one just doesn't look good on paper
THe drums and vocals sound great! Great job everyone!
I think it's sounding pretty damned good too. You ready for round 2?
We have any trumpet players on Hubski? For some reason, I'm hearing a trumpet solo in the middle of the song. cgod, you play some brass, right?
How much $? My guess is that a nice sax isn't cheap. Still, it would be really cool to have one in my studio and to try and learn the basics.
My guess is that this a good price for a nice sax. As a hobbiest, you are right it is too much money.
Really thinking of selling it, might trade it for a good acoustic guitar, mine old loved guitar is falling apart. I'll have to make the rounds at the music stores and see what I can get. I hate big buttery acoustics, actually preferring a thin shitty sound so maybe this isn't a good trading position.
I'm not much good at selling instruments, but I have friends that make decent livings at buying old gear/vinyl etc and selling it on ebay. Might try that route first, then use the cash to buy that thin, shitty sounding guitar.
I dig the vocals; however I'd like to hear it without the layered effect on them. The instrumentation has a sleepy feel to me, and I think the layering blends the vocals with that too much. I'd like to hear them pop out a bit more. But that might just really be a matter of personal taste. This is a pretty amazing result. You all should make an album.
Thanks for the feedback mk. I actually had a version with more pronounced and somewhat punchier vocals that I let jonaswildman hear ahead of time and his advice was to make them softer and more flowing. -Honestly, he was right. If you heard it the other way my guess is that you'd agree too. I'm excited to see what we all come up with next. So much damn fun!
Thanks. Can you refresh your page and report back....
