What if you picked your head up?
What if you started going a little faster?
What if you felt music inside your legs instead of pain?
What if you weren't concerned about looking goofy or being judged for having awkward form because we all have different bodies and it's not like anyone is perfect?
What if you went faster?
What if you accomplished something?
What if you stopped listening to the voice that reminds you of the times you failed?
What if you stopped looking for love?
What if you stopped waiting for something to happen?
What if you stopped feeling little?
What if you stopped feeling sorry for yourself?
What if you stopped ignoring the cold?
What if you embraced it?
What if you stopped ignoring the pain?
And started using it
and stopped analyzing everything
and just focused on
the run.
Wait, wait have you ever heard Girls Like You by The Naked and Famous? Because of the title and the structure of your poem and its similarity to the lyrics I immediately set it to that song. Great song. Great poem too. I just played basketball by myself in the dark for an hour. It felt like what you wrote.
I'm so glad you said this, because I made the same connection. Love that song and band. I just wish their 2013 tour would have included my state!
