Most of the people here also came from reddit, but at earlier times.

wrong.

While I know that we are new to you and to many that are now here, we are far from new. We have had steady growth since we started Hubski. The majority of that has come from word of mouth, people telling friends about us or tweeting "check out hubski" etc. -This is great and truly flattering. Then a few times we have had some big hit days from reddit/hackernews. But we've also been fortunate to have some people write about us:

Early on: Daily Dot

Recently: NPR Michgian Radio, Red Ferret and a handful of others.

It is a mistake to think that reddit is the only place that has contributed to our growth.

Wow, I had no idea this place has been around for so long, and I've been searching for a reddit alternative for a few weeks now. I just came in from the reddit thread yesterday and am still getting used to it here, but I feel like I'll fit in with the community here better. I've also been telling my friends about this site today, so that will boost those "word of mouth" numbers, I'm sure, even if it's just a couple people.

Welcome! Thanks for spreading the word. I fell like that is the best way to get people to know about the site. We don't do any advertising etc. we rely on you guys. Glad you found us!

Oh damn. Sorry about that. I know this place has been around for a while, but I was under the impression it was started by someone on reddit, and thus, most traffic coming from reddit. It just kind of feels really low key and unknown. Which is why I figured the majority probably came from reddit.

No worries Kafke. mk was a redditor as well as being on other sites that hugely influenced us early on. In fact, the site is coded in Arc and was built on the Hacker News template. You can't really tell anymore, but when it was first up and running it looked very similar.

Protip -Check out your settings and change your "style" to Dark. It's awesome.
