Not only does it assume personhood, the community feels quite open and friendly. If it were a person, Hubski feels like the non-judgemental friend who is willing to help whenever you want, or just to talk to when bored. In contrast, Reddit seems like a friend in the schoolyard who tries hanging out with the cool kids, with whom you can be slightly open, but are subconsciously seeking approval from them. If I had a problem, I'd much sooner go to Hubski.
Agreed. I'm still on the first book, but it's so descriptive and amazing. I highly recommend it to everyone
Sweden or one of the Scandinavian countries. I hear that they do just about everything right. Like their education system is amazing, and their approach to prison is making prisons actually shut down due to the shortage of prisoners. Plus, they're supposedly filled with beautiful women, so that helps too.
I like playing tabletop RPGs. The interesting thing was that I only got introduced to it by pure chance. My friend (to whom I hadn't talked in a while) was hosting a DnD 4e session which I heard about when talking to his sister (who I hadn't seen in ages) about The Big Bang Theory and how it's taking the piss out of nerd culture.
Anyway, I started playing and never looked back. Since then (start of last year), I have played in 3 groups, and have started running 2 Pathfinder groups with friends. I highly recommend tabletop RPGs to anyone that's considering them. They're like video games where you can choose to do just about anything, rather than the scripted options.
I wasn't really popular at school in general (I got along with everyone, but wasn't exactly Ferris Bueller), but I went on a student exchange trip to Japan and that was an interesting experience. Basically, I attended a Japanese high school for a week and saw what it was like. However, after my introduction there, people kept on waving to me and trying to talk to me (much more than with the other exchange students, who were more popular, normally). I still have no idea why it was, but it was awesome. So I wasn't exactly popular, but I was famous for around a week.
I'm supasmasha. I am a student who wants to go into engineering. I love of playing basketball, cycling, swimming, video games, computers, movies and books. I live in Australia and tend to have an on/off relationship with Hubski since I only use it when I'm not insanely busy.
I am not as super-efficient as everyone thinks I am. Or, at least, it's not as easy as everyone thinks. Everyone talks about it like there must be nothing to it, when it in fact involves thinking everything out to an extreme, and can feel really neurotic at times. Not that I'm complaining about being able to do it. I'm just saying that there's more work involved than most think.
I go for a run or bike ride and let my mind wander. After the excercise, I generally get into a good book, movie or game. After a bit of healthy escapism, I might have a nice nap and try a bit of lucid dreaming, which is some of the best escapism there is.
I want to finish school and strive in newfound independence
Have you considered spicing it up with some Pride, Prejudice and Zombies? Link for the lazy: http://www.amazon.com/Pride-Prejudice-Zombies-Heirloom-Class...
Preparing for exams in Melbourne, Australia. Lovely weather; sunny with 28 C, or 82 F. I'm reading Game of Thrones and Batman comics. Trying to balance working out, studying and socialising. It's hard. Trying out geocaching, and loving it. I recommend it to everyone
No, I'm about a city away, but I hope that they stop soon. It's devastating.
I like the following from Muhammad Ali... "I hated every minute of training, but I said, 'Don't quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.'" I like it because it relates to me in my final years of high school, and finding it hard to focus through the repetitive tests and incredible boredom, even with the subjects I like.
Thanks very much. Relating it to Reddit is a big help, since I've been quite familiar with that. The amount of courtesy and niceness is also surprising. And not a single pun or meme to be seen. I think I'll like Hubski.
Great game
I'm not reading a book at the moment, but I am reading a comic that I got for my birthday. Specifically, the third book of Batman: Knightfall. It's interesting and I like it. My main complaint would be the length of it all.
I love to get extremely cosy in a blanket nest on a bean bag and just read for hours on end in comfy clothes. It's really great. Reading in the bath also works (Kindle in a ziplock bag). Or, if I'm feeling more stressed or if it's a particularly nice day, I'll just go for a moderately-intensive bike ride to clear my head and work out my legs. Or, you know, browse Reddit and Hubski for hours on end and adding things to wish lists
I just tried to gauge interest in playing with friends. Enough said yes, so I organised stuff. You could probably try your local board game shop, or check out http://paizo.com/pathfinderSociety to see if there's a local Pathfinder game near you.
Tomb. Horrors.
I'm not familiar with the co-op classes, but that sounds awesome. However, I personally prefer playing as an Infiltrator (and a Renegade one at that). OK, he's definitely the coolest. Or, at least tied with Mordin.
I generally study alone, with varying conditions of noise. For example, when I start out, I generally start listening to some Rush to get me psyched and interested. However, after a while, I'll just stop listening to music and study with my headphones in but not playing anything (only in noisy environments, though). Of course, this depends on what subject I'm studying and what I'm actually doing. For example, I'll listen to music if I'm not doing anything too intensive, and concentrate in silence on mentally heavy tasks such as assignments.
And it's not just the planets or the story, either. I don't know about you, but those games make me really intrigued by the technology present in them, and what living in that universe would be like. Plus, Garrus is kinda the coolest..
I was shown Tim Burton's Batman (1989) when I was 5 years old. I went out of the room to get a drink and walked back into the room when Jack Nicholson's Joker appeared on screen. Yeah... Jack Nicholson is a scary man. I had nightmares for 2 years because of that
Back to school.....
Happy birthday, friendly internet stranger
I get the same thing about emotions. It's funny because I'm normally all cheery and happy so when I'm thoughtful about something and stare into space, everyone gets really worried and asks me what's wrong and why I'm so sad. Fun stuff.
That was actually beautiful. I think I'm slightly tearing up from nostalgia
It was one of Miller's other Batman comics. TDKR was based on The Dark Knight Returns, which is great.
It doesn't matter that much. I was just curious on the general opinion of an aggregate of moderately-intelligent people such as Hubski
I'm currently being fed with a slow drip feed of Castle (one episode a day) so I can mainly keep in touch with school and the outside world
