It's tough because in the transition from web 1 to web 2 our public spaces shifted from protocols to companies. Email is a protocol, but so is a sidewalk. I have sympathy for your view (shared it to some degree) but I'm becoming increasingly reticent to gatekeep our company-owned digital sidewalks until we figure out how to build them as protocols first.
We call them models. Have to make sure to use different words for them.
Lil I'm sending my best to you. What an ordeal... I'm glad that the results were good, but wish you don't have to go through that :(
"Funnier" implies some amount of humor imo, but I'll let you take it back ;)
I didn't opine on what's "derogatory" or not, but for my part, have a high tolerance for "derogatory" jokes of all types (especially when they are not the point of the bit), including those against my background, which I remember my father scolding me for laughing at as a kid. Imo Dave was profoundly humanizing to trans people in that special and you don't have to be trans or not trans to see it (or disagree with that). Also, not only do I not defend transphobia, I'm against it. Also I don't find white Supremicists tweeting about how they hate other cultures funny like you do. That's just me tho.
I watched it before I was aware there was a controversy and came away with the exact opposite take, and actually found his bit to be more moral than the vast majority of comedy I’ve ever consumed.Critics inside and outside the company have said that Mr. Chappelle’s show, “The Closer,” promotes bigotry against transgender people.
Ah shoot Im driving atm!

"The Scorpion's rollcage is more angled than I wanted, however, so using a vice and a heatgun, I brought the angle more vertical" Why did you want it less angled? Any functional reason or just cause it looks cooler and more bratty?
I'm really feeling this pairing.
Update: I found the vinyl recording of this Nico album in a record stores bin for almost nothing not to long ago. I don't know how rare the record it but I consider it a massive score.
I was listening to Sister before it was cool. Going a little mainstream for me now but u guys should def check it out. Srsly tho she wrote this on the spot. It really was a great concert :)
Haha not really just thought this was a fascinating read psychologically. Particularly fascinating is just how dismissive he is of the causes of, and factions in the war that did that to them. They seem to melt away in importance compared to the outcomes they produced. You might need to add booze and smokes to your stockpile tho lol ;)
I’m kind of determined to bend the alone curve down as I age. Even if it’s with just a handful of close friends or family. I’ve a hunch I’ll live longer and have more fun.
I'll bring the beer. You all can watch me drink it.
Weird and troubling to me how too clever by half so may people are to modern hijinks and worse.
I'll say this. A good friend of mine was a teacher for a decent stretch of time, and focused on teaching autistic children. She found it extremely rewarding but that's inconsequential and completely besides the point. She always had a lot to say about how happy and full the lives of her students were. I remember when my wife and I were looking at having a kid, and I was talking to her about my fears that at our age there was a higher probability of genetic issues resulting in things like Downs Syndrome. I will always remember the distinct lack of time that elapsed in her reply, coupled with her nakedly honest response asking why that would even matter, -that children with Down syndrome where just as awesome and capable of radical happiness as any other. I still think about that jarring moment to this day.
You need Boston Lettuce.
If you are going to litter this is the way to do it.
Pubs are almost purpose-built for commiserating. But I also feel guilty adding negativity in the Pubski, when we can all use some good vibes.
Shouldn't be hard, but you're right. You explain the mechanics of transmission, and the mechanics of kindness, but their brain shuts off before you even start because their politics won't allow it.
My dad came over for coffee today. Due to a medical condition, he has a severely compromised immune system. He railed against our governor's mask mandate that was just overturned by our state Supreme Court (because it was issued by executive order) and repeated the GOP talking point that it was on him to wear a mask since he was the one who was older and more at risk. It's taking all of my patience not to paint all Republicans with a broad brush.
As hard as everything still is, I'm glad for your wife's improved state. That was an emotionally terrifying read. Hope things keep incrementally (or more) improving.
Thanks, and yeah...testing. I walked into an urgent care to get tested last month, took the swab, then stared at the PA as she told me I'll have my results in...wait for it...up to 10 days. Why did I even get tested? Should have just quarantined and called it a (14) day. I guess that's what you get when you are this many months into a global pandemic with not only no coordinated federal response, a federal response that actually attacks the governors they abdicated to for addressing it.
She's still not 100%. Just...kind of weaker. Hopefully she'll get there eventually but it's an ass-kicker.
My mother in law had it. Had symptoms for about a week, felt crappy so went to hospital. They admitted her, she stayed overnight then insisted they let her go back home, which they did. Within 48 hours she drove herself to the ER and checked herself back in, then declined rapidly. Ultimately she ended up on the brink where they thought she wasn't going to make it, and pulled back at the last moment, almost a month in. Another anecdote but I've heard quite a few of them like that now. Statistically he's going to make it, but lets just say I wouldn't be surprised if he suddenly tanks.
Talk about a jam. King Curtis, Memphis Soul Stew. I sent this to cgod commenting that the drummer was insane. He informed me that Bernard Purdie is legendary. He also schooled me that the keyboardist is the Beatles keyboardist as well. Guess having absolute beasts on the ticket improves things... Been jamming this whole album for a few weeks. Also, here you go: You can't deny it.
Nice...is that chorus on the bass? Kind of has a New Order vibe which I am always fond of.
