So you found out the name of some extra you find hot... Congratulations? What a bizarre post.
I'm white, my step-father is a very prominent native American speaker and activist. He's always had it ingrained in his head that Europeans were dirty medieval war mongerers and that Britain was this black, desolate industrial-revolution like place, and that his people suffered a unique and savage injustice when conquered. Last summer he went to England (hesitantly) for the first time and visited the British museum. Driving through the british countryside and seeing how beautiful it was completely surprised him. Seeing how much nature and farmland there was did too. It was also the first time he learnt about British culture. Learning that the British had also been conquered by the Romans, then the Saxons, then the Normans, then were attempted to be invaded again by Spain, France, and Germany. Was a blow to his beliefs that what happened to the Native Americans was some sort of bizarre event. Everyone's been conquered many times over. I actually liked this, because it puts in perspective that the Europeans were just like the North American Native Americans before mass agriculture and metal works and animal domestication came into play, and not some sort of savage alien race. As it often feels is implied by people from the left.
I'm trying to get an education that will get me a tolerable job for me to have a stable and secure life. I want to live a quiet, happy life and not have to worry about tomorrow. I just want to make enough money and have enough free time that I can listen to audiobooks while doing my hobbies.
Reddit's great if you know how to use it and properly play to its strengths to enhance your experience on the site. Its best feature is subreddits, ie. your ability to exactly customize what variety of content you do and do not want to be exposed to. Also, you can use filtereddit on RES to filter keywords or websites you have no interest in. There's a lot of great content and great contributors on reddit in addition to the terrible content, and reddit optimizes itself so that you can get exactly the experience you want. Take advantage of it.
You think that's bad? He chose combat rock over Self-titled, Give 'Em Enough Rope, and London Calling. That should be a federal offense.
It was mentioned on reddit when I was getting really sick of reddit and looking for an alternative. It didn't really do it for me, so I started to use RSS feeds instead. Now I get hubski (and parts of reddit) feeded to my RSS reader. I don't spend much time on the site itself or contributing to it, but I follow along with what's posted.
Massively apathetic. I'm pleased that this entire insufferable process is almost over so soon I won't have to be bashed relentlessly over the head by the continual onslaught of half-witted partisan rhetoric. I'm curious who's going to win, but I'm not emotionally invested in it in the slightest and don't give a shit. If I had to pick, I'd say Romney because it'd be entertaining for me to see how miserable and whiny the internet would get.
That's outrageously hyperbolic and dramatic. All you have is overly alarmist partisan rhetoric. People act as if every election is the most important election in history, the world is ending, and the opposition is the sheer embodiment of Nazi principals. Romney's just some ordinary politician. And Obama's the same. You may not being making childish threats, but you certainly sound childish.
It's an altogether different beast, rooted in different psychology, to a different end, perpetuated by a different class of people and thought. That it's focus is primarily on women doesn't mean that it has a relationship with patriarchy.
