as I told someone on reddit once, tell your racist friends about voat, tell your non-racist friends about Hubski you know, Hubski should treat reddit events like the old usenet admins treated september: be very very ban happy for a while so the trolls and other undesired users move on.
My username comes from a little-known quote (at the time) from the bootleg translation train wreak Pokémon Vietnamese Crystal It started it's life in March 2012 as my Reddit username, and I signed up for Hubski using the same name.
When Microsoft lost the war against sypware, I guess they just said "if you can't beat them, may as well join them." if and when their database gets hacked, it will be quite something. especially since "everything you type into the keyboard" includes all your passwords to everything.
nice.
last I checked, Hubski doesn't even have ads.
so every British person's going to jail? unfortunately, their only prison big enough to hold all of them declared independence in 1901.
>The internet has (started to?, already?) replaced TV as the dominant form of media consumption. started to. definitely started to. the rise of the internet is only really a thing for people under 30, and even then a lot of them still watch TV. for the +40 crowd, TV is still the 800 pound gorilla in the room.
I've been thinking about wireless meshnets for some time now. the only Issue is that I can't seem to figure out how to connect metros across oceans/uninhabited rural areas
"There is no longer a singular "American Culture" to put my thoughts into words. We don't watch the same TV, we don't listen to the same music, we don't read the same news sources. Maybe we never did, but the internet is accelerating that pulling apart." this was a temporary thing created by mass broadcast media. it wasn't like that before the 1920's and it hasn't been like that since the 2000s
At this point, we're going to have to get congress to pass a low explicitly stating that APIs are not copyright-able to fix this mess
"and almost all jobs are uninteresting at best and things the world would be better off without as worst." after all, people already do all the fun stuff in their free time anyways
>Edit: I see feminists are butthurt already. Hateful, hateful people. Blocked both of you. can't take criticism?
>(and as an extension, all of the websites dedicated to storing old flashes for nostalgia) - and that is a huge loss because of the sheer amount of content held there. we can still use old software to view these old SWFs. >I wish Flash went open-source so that it could be fixed. the free GNU gnash plays them all.
If you're going with advertising, plan 5 definitely sounds like the best way. if ad revenue is N per page view, allow members to pay N to see no ads, pay N+1 to replace it with one of my own, N+2 to buy the space off of the N+1 guy from before. another benefit is that if ads become part of the social experience, it would discourage adblock. on that note, if you do go with ads, put a pretty please disable adblock message behind that displays to adbock users, I'm sympathetic to those requests and if a page's ads are not annoying and it's operators are deserving of the revenue in my opinion i'll whitelist the website.
I agree. that was enlightening.
"the 1,000 best Hubsky comments made in July 2015" by the Hubsky community, edited by mk if there's enough quality content (of about reddit.com/r/bestof quality, more or less) every month, I just might buy that as a $1.99 digital magizine
I voted tuesday
it's still to early to tell, but early/mid Gen Z seem to be millennials but more so
sidenote, Fuck SESTA. it's rare for a bill to be anti-internet and anti-sex worker at once, but they've pulled off
...that's a good point. I mean, I wonder if having dating services built into social media platforms would be useful, but facebook is for boomers and the occasional event organization by younger people (my college's anime club uses it to organise meetings)
I mean, facebook has everything they need to make it happen, but I still don't like facebook so I'm going to stick to other dating sites
nice to see that the system works
I like the tags idea better too. sometimes I'll have something that's relevant to multiple subreddits and the conversation gets muddled by the division by subreddit.
no. with the rise of electric cars, energy usage will shift from electricity and oil to all electricity. total energy use per capita won't grow too much, but demand for current will rise. also, stuff like heating oil or gas appliances may be replaced with electric too.
at my apartment complex, they have parcel lockers at the mailboxes. it solves that issue
"Yet for some reason people assume that all the heinous shit on Reddit and 4chan are organic." it dates beck farther than we know that Russia cared. if anything, the inorganic effects went as such: Stormfront corrupted 4chan, then 4chan corrupted Reddit
of course, we had video games in both years, so it's independent
Yes! Score one for journalism
I can say from experience that growing Cannabis is quite fun. even though I never made it to the point of having something to smoke due to life circumstances, it was fun watching it grow. every week it was noticeably bigger. despite how many issues I kept having, I never completely killed a plant by accident.
nice. I can't wait for the cost to launch stuff to get real cheap.
