Asians educational systems might as well be treated as criteria fillers. Takers of the test is extremely hung upon getting the scores they needed. Most of the tests are about recalling of information, specific cognitive skills, and sometimes a utilization of both. It can be argued that this type of testing does not reflect any levels of higher cognitive processes going on due to their rigorous nature, and absolute answers. The only advantage for such tests is that they are mass producible.

The lesser side of testing is common knowledge for asian parents, this is why even when America educational systems becomes more systematic, plenty of Chinese parents dream of pushing their kids in to a vibrant and diverse western education. It is obvious that value lies in the western thought of Liberal education, where one is learned in multidisciplinary thinking.

Different reasons for different people I suppose. Lazy people wont bother to spend energy correcting. One who is inept at language could miss mistakes. Inability to form thoughts into words, and/or only caring about getting ones message across thus not bothering with corrections.
