I've tried to reconnect to my inner self and voice, honoring things in me all of the noise has often drowned out. Creativity helps me personally, attempting to cultivate all of the malaise and sorrow regarding the state of things. Sometimes when it feels like it's too much, I take a deep breath and let go. The world and people in it will collectively decide what our future is, and I'm but a cog in a giant machine. I think to myself, life is a beautiful, painful, but ultimately transient experience that will have its own path. Downsizing junk, cleaning, creative pursuits, reading, watching old films, practicing compassion for the many, many broken people in the world attemtping to survive, whether they're on top or bottom of the totem. Trying to practice small moments of active gratitude for the little things generally helps elevate my mood, even when I feel things are really bad.
I do not see Democrats winning this now. In my opinion it will be a miracle if he defeats El Cheeto, but due to so much propaganda and intentional misinformation out there, the current administration will most likely remain for a second term. I hope I am wrong though.
Mel C was always my favorite! Can't believe it's been over 20 years since the movie
Been obsessed with Chihei Hatakeyama recently. "Bloody Mary" is one of my favorite songs, ever. It is very moody, expressive and nuanced, ambient-scape music, akin to Brian Eno's atmospheric stuff. He's on Spotify as well. Very talented artist IMO if into the niche sub-genre.
Currently attempting to slog through the Mothman Prophecies. In my opinion it's one of those unique circumstances where the movie is legitimately better than the book. What I enjoyed about the movie is that it feels like this understated homage to the Silent Hill series and it is a strange amalgamation of campy thriller and art-house. The book ultimately ends up as an UFO/supernatural tabloid-esque read. I'm normally a fast reader and it's taking me ages to finish the book because there's only so much I can handle lol There's a really decent documentary on Tubi TV called "Eyes of the Mothman" that's free to watch. It's light years more informative about the Mothman crypto-zoology mythos than the book ever claims to be, in my opinion. There's aspects of the book that I do like, but it's very dated and in my opinion, reads like a B-movie synopsis for 200+ pages.
