I'll be honest, my first reaction was "that makes sense." A friend of mine pointed out the benefit of this is the women will not have to go to trial and be forced to relive their captivity in front of a drama hungry/fueled media, and tax payers will no longer have to pay for his existence. I hate to be sadistic, but I would have preferred he stayed alive as long as possible stuck in a tiny cell until he withered away. I don't normally take the blood thirsty side, but I cant think of any other punishment that would better suit his crimes.
I see your point regarding suitable punishment for his crimes, but frankly I'm not shedding tears that he took a cowardly way out and as such, has prevented a raft of other issues arising. I sincerely hope that the women are provided with immense support from their families, communities, and agencies/departments to help them rebuild their lives.
