Bah Humbug! As someone that has read both It and LoTR at roughly the same point of my life I can tell you that I loved both of them, a lot. If you enjoyed the movies and you enjoy reading, chances are you would have enjoyed the books. The LoTR series is damned good, there's no way around it. Sure, sometimes the reason we are forced to read the classics is because of their cultural relevance at their time of publication but sometimes it's just because they're fucking awesome.-Such is the case here.

All it takes is to overhear someone saying "They left out the tale of Tom Bombadil!" for me to be delighted I didn't read LOTR.

I haven't read Harry Potter, either. I may someday. Game of Thrones? Hell yes I read those books.

Game of Thrones is next on my list. As we discussed before, I'm going to get the audio books though.. been doing a TON of driving.

Ha! The Tom Bombadil character was pretty cool though. They also way over stated the character of Arwan played by Liv Tyler.. but then every movie needs a love story, right?

I read the first couple HP books but then realized the movies sufficed just fine. I could see myself reading that series to my daughter some day.
