Is it 1999? Do we really need 6 pictures per page over 8 pages? This site can go to hell.
It's actually a thing that is coming back to increase pageviews. You know all those horrid celebrity slideshows, etc. Yeah. Page views. Ad dollars. Big piles of bullshit.
I've noticed this on a bunch of the longer articles on the NY Times and Vice etc. However, most have a 'View as one page' link or similar at the bottom. I love that. As far as ad revenue goes, it's a cheap, dirty trick that pisses off your users. There has to be less shitty ways for sites to make money.
Agree with you 100%. The execs in a print company turned website don't understand the actual problem or give their minions to find a legit "solution." Pageviews go up if you make an article have 10 pages. Is it the best solution? No. Is it a solution? Yes. Does it have a high cost? No.
