Seeing Jay on this track really gives me hope that the rumors of Act II are true... Please let it be true. I'm not huge on Big Sean, but I can fuck with this--although he gets BODIED by both of the features. Sweet mother Mary Josephine. And this Kendrick verse is filthy. He went and killed. thee. whole. rap. game. That shit was Carrie at the prom. That shit was a nuclear bomb to my fucking face. That shit was bananas. Bonkers. Unconscious. And then to top it all off Jay Elec comes out and spits the Divine Comedy of rap verses and puts all the pieces of my disintegrated being back together. God damn.
While I agree he mentioned all the names to name right now, he didn't really say a shit ton except him and the first few are good, and everyone else needs to step up. Quantity does not equal quality in my mind. He didn't really get specific on any of them or really dig in deep on any specific person. Was just kind of a shot across the bow to everybody in the game, but didn't think he really murdered anyone in particular. I think disses are waaaay more brutal when they dig deep and call out specific shit about the dude. This was more of a spray and pray and just droppin all the hot names just to drop hot names. It was a great verse don't get me wrong, but don't think the diss was as hurt as everyone is making it out to be. Stuff like this just generates attention and now they all just gonna stack more paper over this shit, and all the responses that he's gonna get. Plus Big Sean got dissed on his whole album, he prob don't give a shit, his albums dropping soon and going to get even more attention now.He went and killed. thee. whole. rap. game.
Is this really even that big of a deal? I mean, yeah, he called out a lot of guys but he even said he loves them all...it seems more like a friendly "you guys need to step your game up" as opposed to anything else. It's certainly not him going out and killing the whole rap game, there's no explosions, minor shots fired where this is generating way more attention than it deserves. That said, he does kill the verse and it's a great job on his part. Once again he proves to be one of the best rappers out there. But this isn't that big of a deal.
For reference, because both the youtube link in the OP and onehunna's response's soundcloud link are removed, what is the name of the track in question?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPxXcQ77DDM New link, I think. I dunno. It's not on the hype-est thing I've ever heard.
That's also been removed, here's a new link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkZZo0XSm5s Lamar's part: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SaMreUKk5Fk
Control by Big Sean. Kendrick and Jay are features on it.
Honestly, Kendrick didn't even need to drop this verse; everyone knows he is running the game. Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City was an instant classic. Every verse he spits is perfect. The man is becoming a legend as fast as Eminem and Kanye did. But for anyone interested, someone has already responded.
