I'm torn on this issue. On the one hand, having people use their hard earned money to buy tickets to your show and then not show up is frankly a dick move. These people paid that price expecting a certain product and weren't satisfied.
On the other hand, Death Grip's actions certainly have provoked a lot of discussion and hopefully changed the people way think about performances. Audiences, at least in America, expect too much of performers in my opinion. An encore is essentially an obligation these days, defeating the entire purpose of an encore in the first place. And artists should be under no obligation to deliver a certain act, length of set, or quality of music. Artists should be able to perform how they want. If Death Grips wants to set up a show where they don't perform and have a child's drum set on stage that's fine, but at least give warning or set a precedent,. Then again, that would have defeated the entire purpose of Death Grip's stunt. It's a tricky issue.
No. Shut it down. We're not going to analyze this. No-shows are no-shows.
