They would like to take us all to hell with their 'principles', apparently. This wouldn't have happened if they had bargained with the governor's office for the last year. It seems they would rather have contracts honored that are worthless than salvage what they can. It's amazing to me that literally everyone could see the writing on the wall for a decade now, but obstinate refusal by the unions to remove their heads from the sand still won the day. Of course, even if they had agreed to cuts, bond holders would have had to also to avoid bankruptcy, so maybe it would've been for naught anyway.The unions’ biggest problem is that Detroit simply cannot pay their pension claims without destroying city services.
