This is off of the New Green's second album "Elaborate Maps" which is available on itunes. I've always really enjoyed bgood79's guitar solo in the middle of the song.
I had struggled with recording the vocals to the song and decided that I should drink a bunch of scotch and give it a whirl. I had many "sober" takes of the vocals too but the one that the engineer mixing the album chose was the "scotch track".
Enjoy.
Alcohol isn't always the solution I think it will be though. There are plenty of recordings that I listen to the next day that sound like... well, a drunken asshole pretending to croon. It's a fine line :)
No blood curdling here, just a big smile. There's something so familiar in her rendition. Like that one aunt everyone has that really gives the "Happy Birthday" song her all each and every time. Or that women at the karaoke bar that takes it WAY too seriously. Oh.. the whistle solo just clinched it. This is pure gold.
Mrs Miller was inspired. Awful, but it's her enthusiasm that's so infectious. She used to gargle ice before she whistled because it helped to contract her throat muscles. The clincher for me is towards the end where Mrs Miller dives into the chorus a full second before the backing band. I think this is also one of the songs where she forgets the lyrics and just mumbles. Here's to bad music! There aren't many people who really appreciate it.
Awesome! It makes me so happy to know that the music is being listened to. We all worked so hard to make it, it would be a shame if it were never heard. Thanks lil.
