"We Can't Stop" is the new lead single by 20 year-old former Disney Channel star Miley Cyrus. It is the first song we have heard from Miley in three years and will be the first single for her fourth upcoming studio album. Miley announced the single during the 2013 Billboard Music Awards on May 19, 2013, it was released on iTunes and premiered on Ryan Seacrest's morning radio show on June 3, 2013. The song immediately became Miley's third best charting hit in its first week, behind "Party In The USA" and "The Climb."
The music video you see below was released on VeVo on June 19, 2013! It broke VeVo's record for most views in 24 hours with 10.7 million views, beating Justin Beiber's "Beauty And A Beat" song with rapper Nicki Minaj, which received 10.6 million views in 24 hours. From watching this video, I have some mixed reviews I will share with you in this article. Clearly millions of other fans have mixed feelings for the video as well, considering the amount of likes and dislikes for the video are almost split down the middle, with the amount of likes slightly taking the lead.
Overall, I do like the song, it is definitely not as kid friendly as Miley's older songs, and it is definitely more "grown" than "Can't Be Tamed" and "Who Owns My Heart." But the song is catchy, it does have the potential to be a huge worldwide hit, and could become an anthem for all young party animals, such as myself (sometimes). The song talks about having parties, having fun, refusing to stop partying, and most importantly, doing whatever you want...
