My attempt at a minimal, all text blog. Stories, poems, thoughts, and jokes are all featured. It's a combination of serious and silly, some dark humor, and a whole lot of weirdness.
I love short! I started with short. The 100-word limit is a good way to keep it short, a guarantee. You remind me of the power of short. All but one of my first 15 blogs were short answers to short questions. What happened to me? I wonder if any of them were 100 words? Good luck on getting to 10,000 words. 100 X100. Here's my guess: You started with the phrase "avocado advocate" and turned that over in your mind a few times. The rest of the post was built around it. True? False? This answer is 100 words.
Writing something compelling in 100 words is far more difficult than doing the same in 10,000. I tried to submit an 800 word short story to a magazine once upon a time, and I found even in that space their were way more gaps than filled space. I think the trick--and probably why my story sucked--is in leading the reader to fill in the gaps themselves. In 10,000 words you can say what you want and digress if need be.
I enjoy this style of writing and look forward to reading more. You were able to summarize a sort of manifest destiny, wagon expansion, canabalistic endeavor in just a few paragraphs. Hats off to you!
I think trying to be as concise while still clear is really cool; brevity and wit's soul and what not. Just curious, how much time do you spend every day writing stuff like this? Is it just a hobby?
