There are too many steps involved in quoting a user's comment.
This update is an attempt to remedy that.
Now, when you double-click a comment, that paragraph will appear in the reply textbox, with the appropriate markup.
That's it.
You can toggle quick-quotes 'on' or 'off' in your settings page.
As always, feedback is appreciated.
EDIT: Due to some very helpful feedback, I have completely modified the quoting mechanism, switching it from a hover target to a double-click. I'll continue to tweak it, and likely add a mobile-friendly option. Thanks!
And if you double click more than once, copies abound. Which is not the end of the world by any means, but wanted to point it out. Some people highlight as a habit while reading, and if you did a few times before hitting reply, your box will open up with a bunch of copies. But thanks mk!
Is the idea that I would highlight text and then go to the far right of the screen and click the "? That's more difficult than just copying and pasting. The quotes are too far away.
I just used it here. Gotta say, that's pretty slick mk.Update, you now just double-click the text you want to quote. I'll work out a mobile option.
If you open the reply box and click on a paragraph it works! It does not work, however, if you open a comment to reply, rather than the top post.I now realize that I need to make the reply box open up when the quote drops in. Can you check to see it if the quote is in the unopened reply?
Hm. I think I see what you mean. If you've already typed in the textarea, it doesn't populate. Is that what you mean? Or something else. I pushed this one too fast. Time to tweak. It does not work, however, if you open a comment to reply, rather than the top post.
