I think the genetic ownership issue is what really got people misguidedly started on GMOs. Remember that as morally reprehensible as most people find it, the process is legal for the moment, and also shouldn't reflect on the scientific viability of GMOs.

    But unless it becomes impossible to 'own' DNA sequences, GMO for me represent a dangerous and worrying prospect, where amoral corporations will profit from human suffering.

This already happens in the pharmaceutical industry every day, sadly.
