This is something that is so in flux right now, trying to make predictions on the effects of such a thing is way beyond anyone. As it is, the medicare system and pretty much any other system we pay into is doomed to collapse in the next fifty years (that's being conservative), and those predictions were made even before Obamacare came to the national stage. We also have the many attempts at socialized medicine in the US that are bound to be in the Congress for a long, long time, and with any luck, will expand further and further. How medicare will fit into those scructures, I have no idea, but things are guaranteed to change here.
