I would certainly appreciate an end to using the word hipster as a derogatory measure. It's something that you see very often, and at times I've got shut out from certain things or arguments just because "you and your friends are such hipsters". Which isn't even that true, but it becomes a coverall term. As for the rest of the article, this was a great read. It's sad to see these kind of things happening in Williamsburg, it's always sounded like a cool little area. But it will happen, and continue to do so so long as the wealthy landlords and the city are in bed with each other. The last few paragraphs threw me for a loop though, I'm still trying to make sense of that part of it.The anti-hipster censure here includes a healthy dose of typically American anti-intellectualism, decked out in liberal bunting, subtle homophobia, and recognizably manipulative appeals to white, middle class resentment, now aimed at the lazy hipster
