I never read the Pearl Harbor critique but I will go look for it now. Never saw the film. I posted this in honor of his passing. I'm a fan, I thought his passion was always evident. He was first and foremost a fan of film, then a great writer and only last a popular personality.
It seems the review has so much traffic it's currently inaccessible, but:
I saw that piece re-posted on Salon this morning. It's great, I agree.
One of the only celebrity deaths that I've actually cared about in recent memory. Ebert was a cultural bastion. I'm reminded of the Esquire piece on him from a while back. Honest, sad, but well-done.
Maybe some will think this is too soon, but I thought it was light-hearted enough and the perfect way for the Onion to pay respects to a great critic. http://www.theonion.com/articles/roger-ebert-hails-human-exi.../
