Choking the servers with TF2 flair. I was checking the spam queue and Reddit went down. Then it came back up and there was a big stupid scoreboard. I had somehow gained a floating box telling me I possessed a "cruise missile." I then asked my waiter for the check and spent the day mixing Youtube videos for a friend. It appears that they kept the charade up for approximately 7 hours, recognizing wisely that they'd pissed off a lot of people with their pointless shenanigans.
It was just a stupid move. Kinda like Reddit Mold or that stupid timeline thing they did. My personal take is since they skunk the functionality of the entire site on Apr 1 why don't they use it as a big fuckin' open beta? Dump a new feature on everyone and see what they do, kind of like when they turned everyone into an Admin. My recommendation in the secret halls has been, for the past three years, that Apr 1 is the day all the defaults go private, forcing every Redditor to subscribe to subreddits that interest them rather than subreddits that have been forced on them. Every year for the past three years I mention this too late. Maybe I'll suggest it earlier next year.
