Overrated: U2.

Seriously, what's up with U2? I can't see it.

I mostly agree. I like a few of their albums from the 80s (The Joshua Tree and War come to mind), but I don't think they've done anything worth listening to since 1991 when Achtung Baby came out. That had some good stuff on it (produced by Brian Eno, so no wonder), but it has been a constant free fall ever since. "Uno, dos, tres, catorse..." What the fuck was that?

Yeah, War and Joshua Tree were great albums. After that, not so much.

Achtung baby was pretty good too. I'd say that after that it was all down hill.

While I understand why you would put U2 in that category, I can't. Simply because I have too many good memories that wouldn't have existed had it not been for the song "With or Without You".

It was one of the first songs I learned how to play on the guitar and sing. It was my go-to song anytime there was a young lady around when I was a kid. It worked.

I owe them.

Does any young man learn to play guitar without chicks in mind? I admit--shamefully--that when I was in high school in the mid-late nineties Dave Mathews Band (talk about overrated) was the best panty grease.

Actually, Yes.

if you liked this video, then you'll love "Learning to Play Bass and Not Getting Laid".

-Hilarious!! Spot on.

Very true. I was a bassist and never got laid.

I feel your pain. I primarily payed bass from age 17 on. But at least we had a smug sense of superiority, because "it was about the music".
thenewgreen  ·  4771 days ago  ·  link  ·
It was always about "the music" for me too. The "chicks" were just a side bonus I hadn't even realized would happen. I started playing guitar when I was 11. I'm not complaining, it was a nice "side bonus", but it really was tangential to the innate love I had/have for music.

MUSIC RULES. ....seriously.

One more underrated band, some good friends of mine...from the Detroit area:

The Great Lakes Myth Society:

Carter Beauford is not recognized nearly enough for his talents.
blimpy  ·  4741 days ago  ·  link  ·
He sings?
blimpy  ·  4741 days ago  ·  link  ·
Most drummer would agree with you.

Rolling Stone says 10th greatest of all time. I would have to agree. He is one of a few that still give me chills to listen to just geek out on the set. Neil Peart and Mike Portnoy are another two I can't get enough of.

I didn't know he was a singer either. Back up or does he have his own project where he sings lead?
fr33lunch  ·  4741 days ago  ·  link  ·
As far as I know it's mostly backup for DMB.
