HA! I knew that would get a rise out of you. Sorry, I couldn't resist. I know the "Garbage" history. I gotta say, it's impressive that Vig was able to create something that became so commercially successful. -Some of it's quite good too.
There is NO DOUBT (pun intended) that Curve was the template for them.
