Quandries of the opposition. Mitchell Plitnick, in Friday's Souciant.
The only possible result of the current degenerating state is a popular uprising, probably not in the form of a violent struggle, but in the form of electing a very liberal Congress some time in the next several election cycles. People got fucked for a long time before the New Deal came to pass. Right now all the science and economics are very clear on problems and solutions, but the politics lag far behind. It will catch up eventually. I'm vastly in favor of a new New Deal that is inner city specific. The old New Deal deal largely with jobs programs in rural America, which was hit the hardest by the Depression. These days its the cities that are suffering. We have the power to change that.
