Today was our first real class. The assignment was to bring in a bunch of photos and sketch them freehand. In pen.
Focus being on lines and just getting the hang of things. Next step will to trace and then figure out what details to keep and which to leave out, and decide which style of lines we want to use for different aspects of the drawing.
Here's my first sketches. I've never drawn before. Enjoy.
Also there is one where I was trying to do the eye..and it didn't work so well. I'm sure you will all find that to be the most enjoyable one. :P
I'll keep you all updated on how I do. If you don't want to see this shit, feel free to ignore this tag. I'll keep it consistent.
The takeaway I've gotten from every art class I've taken is how little it matters what your initial ability is, as you cannot help but improve greatly by merely performing the exercises as instructed. You can't help but get noticeably better. At any rate, not bad and guaranteed to get better!
I'm just hoping to grow and hopefully it'll help my design sense. It's not a drawing drawing class, it's a drawing class focusing on the design and the start-to-finish process of having an idea come to fruition in the best way possible. I'm really excited.
Very cool! Thought I'd share one of the tools my wife uses to practice gesture drawing drawing. Keep up the hard work!
