I've always liked this one from Jim O'Rourke because of it's disturbing awesomeness. It's a great record to listen to when you have company over because it is chill, it's got a nice arc to it and it is topical with songs like "Women of the World"... but then your guests see the album art sitting out and are either freaked out or intrigued. Those that are intrigued make for far better guests :)
What about you? What's your favorite album art? Post an image if you can.
Download's Furnace, hands down. It doesn't reproduce properly; what you see here is a mess. The CD, on the other hand, came in a clear jewel case with a diffraction grating on it so that as you flipped it in your hand you saw three images - a beautiful mossy green Vancouver Island landscape, a shiny steel metropolis and a religious ruin. Least favorite? FSOL's ISDN.
Maybe "least favorite" would make for a more amusing thread. I should edit the title "what are your favorite or least favorite album covers?"what do you think? Also, that Steely Dan cover is horrendous. SD is one if the most polarizing bands out there. Right up there with Rush.
Those are Bubble Chamber tracks. Specifically, the BEBN at Cern.
You're right, it's really beautiful. Good call. I mentioned to @ AlderaanDuran@ in your #weeklymusicthread the cover art for Discovery's album. I love it and would definitely hang it on the wall:
I like these quite a bit. I've not listened to them, but based on the cover art I would give them a shot. First impressions are important in all areas...
yeah, i totally agree. And even judge on book covers too. Not all the time but yeah. Definitely give them a listen, they're both really good.
That Blue States cover is awesome. Thanks for sharing it. I like that the farmer is looking away, which brings another dimension, unseen, in to the image.
I like the Roger Dean art on old Yes albums. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roger_Dean_(artist)
I've gathered over my time here that you're a big Yes fan. -great band. I read about Roger Dean, his work was a big part of the band.
Alternate submission, Phosphene Dream by The Black Angels. I'm a sucker for visually over-awing covers. Also, the hard copy of this one has ridges where the colors change AND it's a psychedelic trip of an album. I've probably spent a couple too many nights stoned, listening to this album, and feeling the cover.
I seem to recall....
