This week for various reasons, I've listened to: Kraftwerk: Autobahn Discovery -Swing Tree The Velvet Underground -Loaded Herman's Hermits -No Milk Today Kaki King - Can Anyone Who Has Heard This Music Really Be A Bad Person? -thanks cauliflower Belle & Sebastian Been working on the next #tngpodcast and some of these songs are in it so I've been hearing them over and over... flagamuffin, I once saw Aaron Neville and his brothers live opening up for Joe Cocker. He's a cheese ball but he is a talented cheese ball.
The Velvet Underground, solid recommendation there. Great list.
Discovery was such a sweet project. It was the keyboardist from Vampire Weekend and the vocals from the lead of Ra Ra Riot that did that whole album, really hope they do another one. The song Orange Shirt on there is amazing.
For anyone unfamiliar, here is the discovery artwork I was praising: Also, I failed to mention two other songs I've been listening to a LOT the last few days. The first is from Ace Frehley of Kiss -Forget what you think about Kiss, this song "New York Groove", is actually pretty bad ass. The second song if from my friend Jonas. We started challenging one another to record a song every couple of weeks to share with one another. Here is his from this week. He has only just begun writing full songs and I am pretty damned impressed. He plays all of the instruments.
My daughter (2 year old) loves when I put that record on. We dance all over the living room. Lots of great songs on it. A very "Vampire Weekend" feel. Awesome album art too.
