One thing that makes me happy about OWS is that it's much more difficult for the media to frame the debate, and that IMO, this is the crux of so many problems that plague this country right now. To anyone that is only modestly interested in researching the facts of any particular issue, most media isn't much more than a sanitized puppet show. You can see the major outlets are almost begging the protesters to take a simplified stand, so that they can have something to put through the usual talking head banter machine. -It's just how things are supposed to be done between commercial breaks.
People have been disenfranchised and they know it. That's not a problem easily fixed by the status quo system. I think this is going to be a long push.
The tools for revolution are in our pockets, purses and at our fingertips. Never at any time have the people held in their own hands the power to reveal the truth as it can now be revealed. This alone may be the greatest power of the cyber-age. The ability to portray events such as these in real-time, no edits, no cut to black.
This is the reason Government seeks to restrict the use of our cameras and video devices, as They increase the surveillance and unreasonable search of the populace. They know their time of hiding is over and They are afraid. I applaud those citizens on the leading edge of what I hope to be "Real Change". Is that not what our President promised? I do not believe however this is the vehicle he had in mind, that with every passing hour, every protester violated, every empty promise crushed beneath the wheels of Freedom, brings us ever closer to "Real Change".
