Words weren't nearly as cheap then. The modern age of computers has brought a lot of wonderful things, but the shear volume of information has had the effect of devaluing that information in some ways.

This is true and still, I think we owe it to Sullivan to appreciate his words as poetry and as something that could have been unique and special even during a time when people valued words more.
