I feel at ease now but...

the asteroid will make history with the closest flyby of an asteroid its size when it grazes the planet's atmosphere at 19,400 miles above Earth's surface.

Holy shit, that is still scary!

Hey Fox, fyi: Text surrounded by vertical bars (|) is quoted, if the character after the first bar isn't whitespace.

By the way, you're right... that is scary. 19,400 miles is quite a bit though when you consider that it is approximately 6 times the length of the United States. Still.... that's a bit too close for comfort. I recently joined mk, b_b and some others in sending a Hubski payload in to space. We didn't quite get the results we had hoped for though.

aside: Did you know Every day about 100 tons of meteoroids -- fragments of dust and gravel and sometimes even big rocks – enter the Earth's atmosphere.

Thanks, I fixed my quoting. Cool stuff with your weather balloon experiment, that looked like fun!

It was a lot of fun. I hope we can take another crack at it in the spring or summer.
