I post to a few subreddits that deal primarily with history and photography and I don't want to step on the toes of the site administrators if I crosspost from reddit to hubski and vice versa.
Are there any rules that frown upon posting content from reddit to here or from here to reddit?
Thanks.
You can post whatever interests you. Even if the post is on the top of HN, I share it here if I think it's particularly interesting. People can follow you or not, so it's not really a big deal. For the same reason, we ae fine with people posting their own content.
There really shouldn't be any issue with crossposting content. It'd be more frowned on in Reddit because you'd be accused of being a karma-whore, but since there doesn't really seem to be an equivalent of karma here I don't see how that could happen. Just post good content and I think everything will be fine. Also submit any drama with #shithubskisays!
I think that's still up for debate.
I see a lot of discussion of reddit, but nothing about crossposting of content. See, I use the same username here and there, so if someone were to look for my posted content they'd see a lot of overlap. I don't think it's a bad thing, per se. But, if the site administrators frowned upon that, then I'd mix up my posting a bit to offer people here content that was exclusive to hubski. By nature, I'm a people pleaser, a show man, a researcher with a love for archives, photography and history and enjoy offering something new and interesting to readers. It's in my nature to offer that up to as large and diverse an audience as possible. Plus, I get a thrill out of knowing someone is learning something from my posts, or has their interest piqued to the point they do a bit of research on their own if a post of mine compels them to do so. Anyway, thanks for the link. I gave it a read and find it a very interesting discussion.
I really appreciate this paragraph. In fact, It should be mounted over the hearth in the hubski clubhouse. Best rule of thumb here: post what you sincerely enjoy - regardless of where it comes from.
