You've earned an ignore. Sorry, but this website is for people who care about thoughtful discussions. Keep the trolling on reddit and 4chan.

Too late. Syncretic deleting his account was this site's Eternal September. The unwashed masses are here now.

joelg236  ·  4338 days ago  ·  link  ·

That was what cause it. Damn.

huggableplum  ·  4338 days ago  ·  link  ·

Lelz. The "exodus" of reddit's powerusers, ever in search of ego-petting, have landed ship here, and brought with them the hordes of their followers. They never had thoughtful discussions to begin with, amassing 'karma' with quick snipes and silly images, and their minions will only dampen this website even further.

Your downfall has begun.

Mwahahaha

Hi! :D

huggableplum  ·  4338 days ago  ·  link  ·

Oh hi! Does most of broke have an account?

BigGayIceCream  ·  4338 days ago  ·  link  ·

yep.

Pharnaces  ·  4338 days ago  ·  link  ·

I'm not a follower or a power-user from Reddit, I just came here in search of more meaningful discussions. Did I come too late? ;;

huggableplum  ·  4338 days ago  ·  link  ·

I don't think so. Welcome to the thingy!

Pharnaces  ·  4338 days ago  ·  link  ·

I love thingy!

kreius  ·  4338 days ago  ·  link  ·

Don't be an elitist, and welcome growth. Unless you want to see it die off as the cool kid's club.

guybrush  ·  4338 days ago  ·  link  ·

You seem to have misinterpreted joelg236. He made no reference to a growing user base being bad for Hubski per se. That said, I don't think that all types of growth will necessarily help Hubski in the long term, particularly if content is suddenly being posted that is in conflict with the primary objective of the community.

winston  ·  4338 days ago  ·  link  ·

I have a twitter account. In my feed I see what I want to see. I have a hubski account and in my feed I see what I want to see. I ignore tags and I ignore users that don't interest me. My feed looks the same today as it has since I joined, interesting and full of good content. I found this post in the global posts. I don't think growth will be a problem. People that want to "circlejerk" can and will and I won't have to see it. Fine by me.

kreius  ·  4337 days ago  ·  link  ·

I meant Ytknows, not joelg236.

guybrush  ·  4336 days ago  ·  link  ·

Apologies, the long lines confused me.

I'm sorry :(

I'll just leave I guess

huggableplum  ·  4338 days ago  ·  link  ·

It's mainstream now, is all. Put on your black framed glasses and get some records with artificial reverb, we're going full Brooklyn Heights now!

BigGayIceCream  ·  4338 days ago  ·  link  ·

A, u. you in NY?

huggableplum  ·  4338 days ago  ·  link  ·

Gooby  ·  4338 days ago  ·  link  ·

gooby pls

Laurelai  ·  4338 days ago  ·  link  ·

Salty is a nice boy, give him a chance.

agentlame  ·  4338 days ago  ·  link  ·

And one day, you'll be on sitex.com telling people to keep in on hubski.

joelg236  ·  4338 days ago  ·  link  ·

What's your point? That things change?

agentlame  ·  4338 days ago  ·  link  ·

I think it would be that things stay the same.

You could have just as easily ignored him without out the comment.

What value does announcing your downvote/ignore/bury/downmod add?

joelg236  ·  4338 days ago  ·  link  ·

I don't think he/she understands what hubski is about, considering the nature of the post. I wanted them to know that this is not what hubski is meant for, and that I did not appreciate it. Same as if someone came into a library screaming and someone told them that they are going to the other side of the library because they are being way too loud.

agentlame  ·  4338 days ago  ·  link  ·

So you could have educated him without the snarky point that you've ignored him?

My read of your two comments is that you made a point of announcing your vote, while tangentially touching on what sitex.com is about.

joelg236  ·  4338 days ago  ·  link  ·

You wouldn't tell the guy yelling in a library about how great the books are there. You kick him out, and if he comes back in a calmer mood, then we can talk about getting him a library card.

agentlame  ·  4338 days ago  ·  link  ·

Yelling louder is always the best course of action.

joelg236  ·  4338 days ago  ·  link  ·

Of course :) In all seriousness, I probably should not have been so rude. I'm just very used to people being very serious and thoughtful here.

agentlame  ·  4338 days ago  ·  link  ·

There should be a bit of room for silly, in most places.

But, more importantly, there should always be room for 'new'. Otherwise, it's the same people saying the same things.

Still, I wasn't trying to give you a hard time. Salty is a really nice guy, even if his first post missed the mark.

joelg236  ·  4338 days ago  ·  link  ·

I'm hope I didn't come off as an asshole either. I really am just trying to make this site the best it can be for what it is meant to be. Hopefully you and salty enjoy your time here, I find its a fantastic place to discuss with people who are interesting and insightful.

SaltyChristian  ·  4338 days ago  ·  link  ·

:(

Also why the fuck would I go on those sites

Eww

joelg236  ·  4338 days ago  ·  link  ·

I'm not sure whether you're being immature or trying to provoke a response. In either case, I'm happy that I won't hear from you again.

SaltyChristian  ·  4338 days ago  ·  link  ·

I'm sorry. I just didn't think it really mattered how I acted if I wasn't really attempting to discuss anything anyway. I'm perfectly fine with actual discussion, and I wouldn't act like this on a serious thread.

joelg236  ·  4338 days ago  ·  link  ·

I'm willing to un-ignore you, as what you said makes sense. I really hope you start to get a grip on what hubski is about, because it's actually a really cool site. Start with the faq and about page. After that, I recommend visiting the community page to find interesting people to follow based on your interests. You should know that mk is the owner and creator of hubski, and any questions about the site he is usually glad to answer. And me too if you'd like.
