My Israeli perspective: this guy looks pretty great. I personally identify with a lot of his opinions and ideas, and I think this is the type of policy maker that the USA needs. That's for America. For Israel, though, he might be more problematic. Israelis expect the US-Israel relations to mean unconditional military and diplomatic support, which isn't really this guy's idea. Our current government (which is expected to be reelected) obviously has similar expectations of the US, which what I see as the source of Netanyahu's problems with Obama. I'm willing to bet that some future remark by Hagal will cause some more disconnect between Israel and USA. Basically everyone is moving in the direction of diplomatic relations and non-violent action except Israel and the terrorist organizations created under its occupation.
