It's not uncommon that we refer to other Hubskiers in our posts and comments. For this reason, thenewgreen suggested that we be able to shout-out to one another, so that someone knows when they have been mentioned. -See what I did there? :)
Starting today, you can now make shout-outs to other Hubski users. When you surround a user's name by @ symbols, they are notified that you mentioned them.
I'll probably make some additional tweaks to shout-outs, but let's see how they work.
As always, feedback is appreciated!

beezneez -thanks, I think of Hubski as a community and in any good community you can have a continuous dialogue even well after an initial topic is brought up. I think this is going to make the sharing of information/ideas more personalized. I'm excited for this. Go Hubski!

Not at all. I wanted to keep in line with the other markup. Having two +'s for bold or * for italics, but one @ for a shout-out seemed unbalanced. (And one plus for bold would lead to unintended bold type, I think.) Also, we aren't limited in characters, and two @'s seems so deliberate.
I guess I am taking a markup stance more than a messaging one. I did debate it though. A good argument can be made for both.
