Ingredients
3 tablespoons brown sugar
½ teaspoon dry mustard
2 tablespoons vinegar
½ pound thick-sliced bacon
Instructions1. Mix the sugar, mustard and vinegar in a 2-cup measure. Microwave with 700 watts for 30 seconds to dissolve the sugar; stir.
2. Put the bacon strips, four at a time, on a microwave-proof baking rack. (Don't use paper towels; the marinade will stick.) Baste heavily with the sugar mixture. Heat with 700 watts for 3 minutes.
3. Turn the bacon and baste heavily again. Cook with 700 watts for 2 to 3 minutes more, until the bacon is almost dry but not burned and the marinade forms a light crust.
4. Repeat with the remaining bacon.

"Sugar-glazed bacon" is just about the most American thing imaginable.
That is what we here in NZ call "middle bacon", I believe (or possibly "eye bacon"). What Americans call bacon, we call "streaky bacon". There is a whole world of bacon that Americans are missing out on.
A good rasher has a juicy thick strip along the top. I'm hungry just thinking about it.
Interesting, I tried making candied bacon once but it just ended up burning the sugar to my pan and not cooking the bacon.
